About

Bernini is reported to have said that a person’s true character is revealed in the moments immediately before and after he or she speaks. His sculptures are in a sense, stone photographs that capture a moment and expose the nature of his subjects. I am increasingly concerned with searching for portals into human awareness that can never be self-reflected, but revealed from the outside. I am interested in looking for blind spots that inform who we are, as individuals, communities and societies collectively, in what Diane Arbus referred to as “the gap between intention and effect.”

My past and current work is unified by the disclosure of unrealized truths: impressions, foibles and strengths that contribute to the narratives through which we understand ourselves.
